Students from Foundation to Year 6 have learned about the Australian Dairy Industry, predominantly focussing on the journey of farm to plate, or as the students say; 'Cow to Cup'. 

All students have been involved in designing what they would like to see on the cow, using the visual conventions to engage a passerby to be intrigued for further investigation and learning. Each class  suggested three names which were then voted on by everyone in the school, with the result being 'Cowcium'. Students in Foundation have even designed and painted mini 3D printed versions of Cowcium!

Select Year 5 and 6 students have referred to all the designs produced and collaborated to narrow the design to a succinct eye catching informative mural. They have not only learned about the dairy industry but also how to effectively communicate in a collaborative environment when producing a piece of art. Students have started to sketch out the line detail on the cow with the painting to start on the 28th August. 

Moving on from ‘Cowcium’, students in junior school have manipulated clay to create a pinchpot or a cup with a handle, learning and revising the ‘Four S approach’ to clay; score, slip, stick, smooth’. Senior school students have recalled their prior knowledge and experience of using clay to plan a functional art piece that solves a problem or meet a need of theirs or another person. Students have identified the importance of working with the clay’s properties, recognising that the thickness of the pieces of clay is dependent on the height and width of the structure.
