Book Week
Children's Book Week runs from Saturday 22 August to Friday 28 August 2026. The 2026 Book Week theme is 'Symphony of Stories', and this year's whole-school celebrations are inspired by our special visitor, Andy Griffiths!
We are very much looking forward to celebrating Book Week with a whole-school Book Week dress-up assembly in the COLA on Monday 24 August at 9.00 am. This will be a highlight of the week, so start organising your costumes! Families are invited to attend the assembly and parade and share in the fun and excitement.
On Tuesday, Year 3–6 students are privileged to have an author visit by Andy Griffiths, who will talk with Year 3 to 6 students about his story writing and creativity. Many students have pre-purchased a signed autograph book from him and will receive this during the week.
This year, we have continued the tradition of our Dress-up Door, with every class contributing to the creation of a BEPS Story Treehouse – a Symphony of Stories and collaboration of displays celebrating creativity, reading and writing across our school. Each class has created a brand-new floor for the BEPS Story Treehouse, inspired by Andy Griffiths' famous Treehouse series. Each class will showcase their unique Treehouse floor by decorating their classroom door or hallway display board.
During Andy Griffiths’ visit, we hope he will have the opportunity to walk around the school and view our Story Treehouse displays. Our student leaders will explain that each class has designed an original Treehouse floor inspired by his books. We hope Andy will choose his favourite display – who knows, it might even inspire a future Treehouse floor!
National Science Week
National Science Week was celebrated from 15–23 August under the theme “Seeds of Science.” Throughout the week, students explored, investigated and engaged in a range of science activities, sparking curiosity and encouraging them to ask questions and discover new ideas. The National Science Week website offered a range of DIY science activities for families to enjoy at home.
Bullying No Way! National Week of Action
As part of Bullying No Way! National Week of Action, our Stand Up Program (SUP) leaders took an active role in leading our school community on Monday morning. At assembly this week, our SUP leaders presented to students about the 4 Ds – Direct, Distract, Delegate and Delay – and how these strategies could be used to respond safely and positively when they saw unkind or inappropriate behaviour.
Our SUP leaders did a wonderful job sharing their knowledge and encouraging students to speak up, support one another and make choices that helped create a safe and inclusive school environment. Their leadership showed the importance of student voice and reminded us that every student has a role to play in creating a respectful, responsible and inclusive school community.
Hats at School
School hats are to be worn during all outside activities by all students and staff, as from the 1st September. It may be a good idea to start searching for the school hats now so your child has them ready to go for the 1st September.
Parent/Carer Opinion Survey
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey and is seeking your feedback. The survey, offered by the Department of Education, is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement.
Your opinions are important to us and will help identify areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, informing school planning and improvement strategies. The department will use the survey results for research and to improve outcomes for our students.
Parents will receive access details for the 2026 Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey by 28th August. We ask that you complete it before it closes on Friday 18 September 2026 (last day of Term Three).
The survey is completed online and should take about 20 minutes to complete.
The survey can be completed on any internet-enabled device (iPad, Desktop or Laptop, Smartphone) and is compatible with most browsers. Thank you for taking the time to participate; your input is valued and appreciated.
Year 6 to 7 Secondary Transition
Congratulations to our Year 6 students who have been offered and accepted their secondary school placements for Year 7. We thank Irena and the Year 6 team for their support and for overseeing this important process.
