Semester 2 Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Our Semester 2 Individual Education Plans (IEPs) are currently being updated and will shortly be available to families through Compass. Many parents and carers will already be familiar with the IEP process; however, at the mid-year point, we often identify additional students who would benefit from having an IEP in place to support their learning and individual needs.
IEPs outline a student’s individual learning goals, the adjustments and supports being provided, and how progress will be monitored. If your child has an IEP for Semester 2, their teacher will continue to work in partnership with you to support their progress towards these goals.
We value the important role families play in this process and encourage you to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about their IEP.
What is an IEP?
IEPs assist students who require a range of support with their education.
An IEP is a written statement that describes the adjustments, goals and strategies to meet a student’s individual educational needs so they can reach their full potential. An IEP is essential as it helps teachers plan and monitor a student’s unique learning needs.
IEPs are also known as individual learning plans, individual learning improvement plans and Koorie education learning plans.
Who qualifies for an IEP?
Students who meet one or more of the following criteria:
- 12 months below expected level in Literacy or Numeracy
- 18 months above expected level in Literacy or Numeracy
- Funded through Disability Inclusion
- In out of home care
- Indigenous
How do I access my child’s IEP?
2026 Semester 2 IEPs will be open to parents/carers soon. They can be accessed via Compass in your child’s profile page on the ‘Insights’ tab
Once you have clicked the ‘Insights’ tab, you will see a list of all IEPs, including one for the first semester of 2026.
Who else might have an IEP
Students who require additional support or adjustments with behaviour and/or social emotional wellbeing may also have an IEP.
A final word about IEPs
IEPs are a strategy for teachers to monitor, record and drive student progress through goals, teaching strategies, adjustments and support.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s IEP, or you are not sure if your child has an IEP, please contact your child’s classroom teacher to arrange a discussion.
Homework – Concert Week
Please note that no new homework will be sent home this Friday for students to complete next week, as we head into a very busy and exciting Concert Week.
We hope this gives students and families a little extra breathing space during the week. Our usual homework routines will resume in Week 8, following the concert.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to a wonderful Concert Week!
Home Reading Awards
Last week at our 5/6 assembly we acknowledged students in those year levels who have successfully completed 50, 100 or 150 nights of home reading.
These students have also demonstrated a great deal of commitment and organisational skills by recording all books that they have read and submitting those details on time each week as part of the homework expectations. A huge congratulations to the following students:

Book Week - Symphony of Stories
We are looking forward to celebrating Book Week next week with lots of fun, stories and book inspired activities happening in classrooms throughout the week!
This year, Book Week also falls during our exciting school concert week, making the theme A Symphony of Stories a perfect fit. Our concert, Journey Through Worlds, is inspired by the beautiful wordless picture book Journey by Aaron Becker. Across the concert, students will take audiences on an imaginative journey through different worlds, bringing stories to life through music, movement and performance.
As part of our Book Week celebrations, we’ll also be running a daily ‘Name That Tune’ competition during our morning announcements. Students will listen carefully to a tune and try to work out which well-known story it matches. There’ll be prizes to be won each day!
It’s going to be a wonderful week celebrating books, stories, music and imagination across our school.
