We acknowledge Dja Dja Wurrung, the Djaara people, as the traditional custodians of the land on which St Joseph’s Primary School is built.   We pay our respects to the elders, past and present, and pay tribute to the unique role they play in the life of this region.   At St Joseph's school we are inspired by the world’s oldest living culture and celebrate their continuing contribution to the life of this region and the sharing of knowledge.   We call on the spirit ancestors to walk with us always as we share and learn together as one.

St Joseph's School is celebrating Indigenous Literacy Day with the Indigenous Literacy Foundation on Wednesday 2 September! 

It’s a national celebration of First Nations peoples’ stories, cultures and languages. 

This year’s theme is Country Is Our Teacher. 

On Wednesday 2 September our FIRE Carriers will visit classrooms and read Indigenous picture books to the younger grades.  We have registered to participate and watch the short film on this year's theme and encourage you to celebrate with us by registering for the FREE Film and Livestream event via ilf.org.au/ild.

In Term 4, we will be raising funds by holding our annual Great Book Swap, supporting The Indigenous Literacy Foundation. 

We are seeking donations of preloved and good condition books, that can be sold at our book swap. This year we will be adding an adult book swap, available to the adults of our school community. 

All donations can be dropped off to the office or the Art Centre.
