DOXA Cadetship Program

Our Cadetship program supports talented young people facing challenging life circumstances to complete university and gain the skills needed for an employable future.

The Cadetship program is open to Year 12 students transitioning to university and is a three to five-year program, dependent on the length of the degree and the sponsorship model.

The Cadetship program is open to young people facing challenging life circumstances who have finished high school and are about to go to university.  This may include, but is not restricted to:

  • Experiencing financial hardship,
  • Having an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage,
  • Coming from a newly arrived migrant or refugee background,
  • Having faced stressful life events,
  • Coming from a rural or remote area and
  • Being the first in their family to have the opportunity to study at university and pursue a professional career.

The cadetship programme provides young people with:

  • Practical and personal support during their university course,
  • The opportunity to connect with peers and industry professionals through work placement and social events and
  • Personal development and training opportunities to enhance their employability.

Overseas work experience and volunteering

Projects Abroad offer work experience and volunteer programs for high school students. Examples of programs include medical interning, volunteering with children, rainforest, marine and wildlife conservation. Young Endeavour program involves young people working together to operate a sailing ship over 10 – 13 days and develop leadership and teamwork skills. This is an amazing program and it’s very competitive to gain a place. Dates for 2023 and 2024 are available on the Young Endeavour website. Rise Global Leaders is a program that finds promising young people and provides them with opportunities that allow them to work together to serve others over their lifetimes. An initiative of Schmidt Futures and the Rhodes Trust. Benefits include access to need-based scholarships at any accredited university,  mentorship and career services for personal, academic, or professional guidance, access to the Global Winner Network, and much more. The Australian Defence Force Cyber Gap Program (Year 11 students)

This program is for you if:

  • You are an Australian citizen
  • You want to be a cyber-warrior or be on the front line in cyberspace
  • You are planning to study cyber security at university or TAFE in 2025
  • You would like assistance and mentoring
  • Would like assistance with your course fees – you will be reimbursed up to $15,000.
