Year 2/3 Master Blaster

Cricket returns! The amazing weather last Friday evening saw the Year 2/3 Master Blaster cricket team return to the field. The team bought boundless energy and enthusiasm to the game. Unfortunately, our opposition was a no show. Thankfully another small school team was there, by combining our teams we were able to have a fun and fair game. A mix of new and continuing players worked well together, with kids listening and practicing their skills – especially bowling with a straight arm. Thanks to Zoe, Brock, Tyson, Bryan, Rowdy, Arav, Zac, Phoenix, Jonte, and Josh for being good sports.

GS Rockets

The GS Rockets put on a very dominant display of team basketball Wednesday afternoon where they defeated Prescott White, 46-0.  There were numerous plays where players passed to teammates in better positions which resulted in baskets. Hunter, Elijah and Jonte all had high scoring games. Patrick started the game very aggressively and caused multiple turnovers.  Inara dribbled well through traffic and Layla and William chipped in for some handy baskets.

Scorers: Hunter, Jonte, Elijah (12 pts each), Layla, William (4 pts each), Patrick (2 pts)

GS Thunder

An exciting game this week with great offence making leads and looking for each other. Defence was fierce with a chase down by Louis to stop a chance on goal.

Scorers: Austin 6, Tyson 5, Zeppelin 2

GS Raptors

The GS Raptors had a very competitive match against the St.David’s Sixers Thursday afternoon.  In the end, the Raptors went down 37-48.  The opposition were very well drilled with their ball movement around the key and they had a height advantage over the Raptors.  Heath took a couple strong rebounds, Downey dribbled well throughout the game and Oscar had another high scoring game.  The highlight was Jayden’s 3 pointer with only a second left on the clock.  The excitement of that basket made it feel like a win.

Scorers: Jayden (19 pts), Oscar (18 pts)

GS Stars

The GS Stars did an awesome job this week! Matilda, Ivy, Harla and Harriet each scored a goal for the team, Clara and Grace were strong in defence and Aniko and Amelia threw some great centre passes. A great way to celebrate Harriet’s first game, such a great result!
