Light in the darkness

Let’s face it. Sometimes life can be overwhelming. News reports bombard us with stories of unrest and distress. Closer to home, you might have friends or family members who are facing challenging circumstances. Perhaps you might be going through something difficult right now? At times it can feel lonely… even dark… And sometimes all you can do is wait…

What do you hold onto during these times?

Centuries ago, the prophet Isaiah had the task of telling people that there were some very tough times in front them. But he also gave them something precious and enduring to hold onto… Hope.

‘The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness a light will shine. For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.’

Isaiah 9:2,6 NLT

While his name isn’t mentioned, Isaiah was talking about Jesus. Jesus ~ the child who became a beacon of light in a dark world.  He grew and shared God’s love and hope with everyone who would listen. Ultimately, he gave his life for the forgiveness of our sin, becoming our Saviour and securing our future with our loving God.

Today, we still experience hardships and, as mentioned before, at times it can feel pretty dark. But we aren’t alone. Jesus is with us in every challenge, supplying everything that is needed including light in the darkness… Something to hold onto today!

God’s Light and Hope be yours today!
