LS2 CLINIC 1 MATH SESSIONS

Prepare to be amazed by the incredible journey of the LS2 Juniors in Clinic 1 as they embark on a captivating adventure through the enchanting world of two-dimensional shapes!

Picture this: young minds brimming with curiosity, exploring squares, circles, rectangles, and triangles that come to life in the real world around them. But wait, there's more – they've turned these shapes into their secret companions in a delightful game.

The challenge? Hide these mystical shapes beneath a veil of paper, and with the touch of a finger, bring them to life on the iPad. As if that's not astonishing enough, these budding mathematicians have been unlocking the secrets of these shapes and arming themselves with magical words. They've learned to whisper magical sentences like, 'A square has four equal sides and four corners.' With this newfound language, they can now confidently share this with their friends.

But the magic doesn't end there. Our young apprentices have taken their newfound powers and transformed shapes into enchanting creatures like 'Shapley' the shape dog. They've crafted rockets that shoot for the stars and whimsical houses that defy gravity.

And brace yourselves for the next enchanting chapter: an epic quest to discover the mystical realm of three-dimensional shapes. These young explorers are set to embark on a grand shape hunt within the mystical school grounds, uncovering hidden treasures in every nook and cranny.

SPORTS NEWS

REGIONAL ATHLETICS

On Wednesday 18th of October, Regional Athletics at the Casey Athletics Track in Cranbourne.  We had Andison (Andi) (Grade 5 in two events, 1500m and 800m.

The 1500m was in the morning while the 800m was the last event of the day.  Andi walked confidently to the starting line with all of her family support.  A determined young lady had only one result in her mind and that was to come first.  The race commenced, it was Andi and another young lady that led the group.  Over the 1500 metres, it wasn't until the last lap that Andi broke away and did not look back to win the race in 4 minutes and 56 seconds which was 18 seconds better than last year.

The 800 metre event was a bit closer, between three girls.  Andi led most of the way, it wasn't until the last 100 metres that she found the energy and sprinted towards the finish with winning by 15 metres. We are all proud of your achievements!!

SWIMMING

Our swimming program is running smoothly. I would like to thank all our staff for their organisation and commitment that helps the swimming lessons to run smoothly. I would also like to thank the instructors at Casey Race. They were extremely organised and everything ran like clockwork. Finally a big thanks to our Junior parents who were able to come and assist in the change rooms after the swimming lessons.

A reminder to all parents you are most welcome to come and watch, however we ask that you do not take photos or videos at the pool and only parents I have spoken to and debriefed are allowed to assist in the junior change rooms after the swimming lessons.

A reminder to parents that swimming will continue next week and the details are as follows:

Monday 23rd October – LS1 Seniors, LS1 Juniors, LS2 Juniors

Tuesday 24th October – LS3 Juniors, LS3 Seniors, LS2 Seniors

There are no changes to the swimming program next week so we hope that all students will bring their swimming gear so that office staff do not have to ring parents.

Students will need to wear their bathers under their sports uniform and bring a plastic bag with their towel, undergarments and thongs. Students will wear thongs to and from the pool to make changing easier and then put their socks and shoes back on once they return to school.

Swimming timetables have been uploaded onto the Operoo permission form as an attachment. Please print it off and ensure you have it available at home as swimming days change for the different Learning Spaces. Timetables are now in PDF format and can be downloaded on mobile phones. I will place reminders in Morning Reminders, the newsletter and through our app each week. We would like students to come ready for swimming each week, without placing the extra burden on the office staff of having to ring parents to bring swimming items because students have forgotten them.

SENIOR SPORTS

Grade 5 Bike Education

Please give your permission for your child to participate in the Bike Ed program via Operoo and ensure your child’s medical profile is up to date. Please also indicate on Operoo if your child does not have a bicycle and helmet. You will also need to print off and complete the two safety check documents, sign and return to your child’s Home Group teacher by Friday October 20th.

Each child will require a bicycle in safe working order and an approved helmet that fits correctly and is in good condition. You will need to complete a bike safety check and we request your cooperation in having any necessary repairs, adjustments or replacements made promptly. You will also need to complete a helmet and riding gear safety check and it is essential that your child’s bicycle helmet fits comfortably and securely and that the polystyrene foam liner is undamaged.
