Japanese Excursion to Nihongo Tanken Centre

On 13 November, the Year 12 Japanese Beginners class joined students from Macquarie Fields High School for an authentic Japanese experience and immersion in a Japanese environment at the Nihongo Tanken Centre. This is a traditional Japanese house located at Kirrawee High School.

Students only communicated in Japanese and were challenged to understand the Japanese culture and language. Students were placed into two teams, Tokyo & Osaka, where they competed in multiple fun, traditional activities and played games such as katakana pictionary, memory games, celebrity heads and more.

For lunch students were able to sit in the garden (niwa) and eat Obento; a healthy Japanese boxed lunch.

This experience offered many opportunities for students engagement in the Japanese environment.
