Reflections and Forward Momentum

Principal's Report

As we plunge ourselves into the energy of Term Four, there's a distinctive sense of achievement, looking back, and expectancy surrounding us. MGC is a hub of pride and recognition, particularly significant for our Year 12 students who have recently finished their final classes.

The Term Three holiday period was not only a time of reflection but also intense preparation. Our Year 12 students, understanding the arena they are navigating, dedicated elements of their holiday break to revision lectures and practice exams. These sessions were crafted to simulate the structure and rigour of their forthcoming final exams, ensuring our students experience and acclimatise, when faced with the real challenge.

The Year 12 Valedictory Evening, which was held on Tuesday 17 October at the Pullman, Albert Park was a memorable testimony to the years of hard work, determination, and resilience our young people have shown. The joy and pride evident on the faces of our students as they graced the stage were not just their own but a reflection of the collective pride of our entire school community. Our gratitude extends to every teacher, family member, and, most importantly, the students themselves. Their relentless growth, determined support, and immense contributions have curved an imposing path for the next generation of students at Melbourne Girls’ College.

Term 4 is always a pivotal time in any school year, a period brimming with opportunities for our students to consolidate their learning, celebrate their achievements, and prepare for the exciting transitions ahead. Whether to step up to the next level, this term promises to be one of growth, achievement, and celebration for the entire college community. From our upcoming Presentation Evening, Dance Night, Cadets Presentation Evening or Aerobics Presentation Night we are excited to celebrate the variety of achievements. Stay tuned for more details on these events.

On Tuesday 24 October, we are celebrating the opening of the 2023 MGC VCE Art and Media Exhibition. It is not just an exhibition; it's a testament to the hard work, creativity, and passion of our students. Our VCE students have poured their hearts and souls into their work, and the exhibition promises a diverse range of pieces, from traditional paintings and sculptures to digital media and film. This exhibition is for our whole community because it is a wonderful way to connect people, spark conversations and create memories. So, come along to support our students, enjoy the art and celebrate the talents and expression that thrive in the college.

As we move through our final term, let us continue to support each other, celebrate every success and face each challenge with the strength and unity that MGC is known for.
