Spotlight on Learning - Room 1
Students in Room 1 are very excited and proud to share some of our recent work. Each student picked one of our focus areas to share their work in.
Reading Fluency:
During Term 3, we developed our reading fluency through structured daily practise. Each week, we started a new text building on our fluency with this each day. Our goal is to read effortlessly accurately, smoothly, and with expression. On Mondays and Fridays, we measured our progress by tracking how many words we read in one minute.
Writing:
Following on from our sentence writing focus we have explored different text types. Learning to write information texts about marsupials. Our writing had to include information about what the marsupial looks like, eats, can do and where they live.
Maths:
We have started to develop a bank of addition and subtraction strategies to help us solve problems. Strategies such as count all, count on, use a number sentence, count back, and using number lines. We have been learning to work like mathematicians by modelling, representing, and explaining our answers. Doing this helps us to learn how to solve problems where the numbers change.
