Leadership Report

Welcome back

Welcome back to Term 4 for all students and families.

I hope everyone had a great holiday break and recharged their batteries ahead of a busy and fast-paced Term 4.

Staffing updates

We have had some recent changes in staffing at our school.

We have unfortunately had to say farewell and best wishes to Karen Waterman who has resigned from Marion PS to focus on family and other opportunities in her life.

Dear families,

I wish to let you know that I have decided to end my contract early from Marion Primary School as I need and want to spend more time with family. I also wish to pursue further studies at university, either in education or product design. My other goal is to set up workshops teaching others how to create unique and beautiful coiled baskets.

I will continue teaching as a TRT in the Adelaide Hills as I still love the profession.

I have enjoyed my time at Marion Primary School and will miss both staff and students. Thank you for the wonderful friendships that I have made over the past 12 months.

I wish everyone all the best, and I am sure that you will continue to work hard over the rest of the year and for the future in Year 6 and High School next year.

Kindest regards,

Karen Waterman

On behalf of all of us at Marion PS, I wish to extend my best wishes to Karen as she takes on a new chapter in her life and career. Karen will be sorely missed by the Marion PS community and we wish her all the best for the future.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Joseph Perri to the Marion PS team who will be working in Room 10 for Term 4. Joseph brings a wealth of knowledge with him from working as a wellbeing coordinator in the Northern Suburbs over the past decade as well as a deep understanding of our students and context at Marion PS with his relieving work over the past couple of years. I am very excited to welcome Joe to the team.

I would also like to update families that Ros Mazurek has taken leave for all of Term 4. Please see Ros's information she wishes to share with our community, below:

Dear parent community,

It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to take leave for the rest of the year and focus on my Chemotherapy and recovery. I have had 2 cycles so far and am beginning to understand how tiring it is. I am doing OK but feel that teaching will be too tiring for me for this year. Hence I will be taking leave and Chris Haddad will be doing PE & Digital Tech. I will be checking emails every couple of days and will be helping Chris with the term's plan. I still like to keep busy and active in the school community. I will still be involved in the after-school Basketball. All non urgent matters can be emailed to me, but urgent matters need to go through the front office or Guy Walmsley. I really have appreciated all the well wishes from the school community and the generosity that many of you have offered through your love and support. I will miss the students and hopefully I can come back at some point in the term for a quick catch up and a friendly wave! Farewell for now.

Regards

Ros Mazurek

We wish Ros all the very best on her road to recovery and send all our best wishes, love, and support.

As I touched on at the end of Term 3, we also welcome Georgina Sprigg into the Leadership Team working as Deputy Principal. I am really looking forward to working with Georgina this term. We wish Sue a speedy recovery from her knee replacements and look forward to welcoming her back into the Science NIT role in 2024.

Hat and sunscreen reminder

As the days are becoming hotter and the sun is becoming increasingly severe with harmful UV radiation, it is a timely reminder about hats and sunscreen at school.

We have recently revamped and updated our Sun Protection Policy which was shared with families last week. This is also attached below in case you missed it!

Marion Tea and Coffee Morning - each Tuesday!

On Tuesday morning before school, we commenced our first Marion Tea and Coffee Morning.

This was previously held on Monday afternoons with Denys (PCW) and Leadership. We have been looking at ways to maximise parent and community participation and engagement with the school and one another and have decided to trial having this session during the morning for Term 4.

Below is all the information you need to know:

  • 8:30-9am - every Tuesday morning during Term 4
  • Under the awning near the Library
  • Tea and coffee, bananas and brekky bars are provided

Please come along and enjoy a cuppa on the asphalt with other parents and staff while your children have a morning play and then after the bell goes for the commencement of the school day. We are looking forward to further engaging with our parent body and strengthening the partnership between the school and families.

I am looking forward to a great Term 4 at MPS!
