What's happening?

Governing Council

Our final Governing Council meeting for this year will be held on Tuesday 5th December. Early in 2024, we will hold our AGM and will be seeking members of our school community to nominate for the Council. Governing Council meets twice per time for about an hour and members are involved in providing feedback and suggestions for school directions, working to oversee OSHC and Canteen and working with staff representatives to learn about school priorities. Being a member provides great insight into what happens behind the scenes of school operation and allows family members to get to know others in a structured space. Please look out for the information regarding nominations in term 1. No experience or qualifications are necessary.

Small Footprints, Big Job: Our Environmental Leaders at work

Our dedicated Environmental Leaders are at the forefront of change! With passion and commitment, they're organising each class to make sure food scraps are being put to good use. We have started composting and recycling with the aim of reducing our environmental footprint.

Environmental Leaders are raising awareness, teaching each year level about what to put in and what to leave out of our new bins. Each class has nominated two environmental warriors to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Students enjoy investigating waste production, consumption and management based on their own experiences of going on excursions.  P6 and P9 recently went to the dump to get an upfront and close look at how communities manage their waste.  This helps students develop an in-depth understanding about pressures on the environment, ecosystems and people’s health caused by waste. By linking curriculum and experiential learning, students can explore ways of improving waste management to build a sustainable future and address the complexities of a changing climate. These experiences and cross-curriculum priorities taught back in class further underline the importance of sustainability and provide for a great learning opportunity that hopefully forms caring planet habits.

From recycling and composting to inspiring each class to do the right thing by the planet, our Environmental Leaders are empowering all students to take action for a greener future.

A big Thank you to the Environmental Leaders!
