Principal's News

This past week has been filled with many reminders of what continues to make our Shelford community special. Our Presentation Evening on Monday was a delightful and inspiring representation of who we are. This was an extraordinary showcase of talent, passion, and creativity.

This week we also welcomed Year 7, 2024 parents and students as part of the Integr8 program, hosted the VCE Teacher Meet and Greet, commenced VCE Transition, applauded the two Year 10 Shark Tank Teams on winning the National competition across the Digital and General categories and then just this afternoon, we proudly celebrated the Year 6 Class of 2023 at the beautiful Grade 6 Graduation ceremony.

I am encouraged by our outstanding teachers and staff who continue to support our students and community with care and compassion.

During this time, I have received numerous emails, and heart-warming messages of sadness, support, and thanks. In addition, I have also met with many parents, students, staff, and valued suppliers. These meetings have provided valuable opportunities to assist with navigating the way forward.

Noone, responded with the following, “As official uniform supplier to the Shelford Girls’ Grammar community we are saddened by the news of the pending school closure in 2024. In light of this development, we have decided to discount the uniform by 50% off current retail prices effective 24th November 2023.  Please continue to visit the Noone Hampton store and don’t hesitate to call the staff there for any assistance. We are proud to have been of service to you all and will continue to support the school and the community throughout 2024.”

Regarding integration with Caulfield Grammar, whilst we don’t yet have all the details, we are actively working to understand what 2025 entails. I can share with you the structure that we will employ to support our community and to understand and respond to their needs.

As you may already know, an Integration Committee will be established. This will consist of staff members from Shelford and from Caulfield Grammar. Underpinning this committee will be several focus groups providing opportunities for community input, consultation, and representation. I am delighted that parents have already expressed their interest in being involved. I will communicate how to register for the focus groups and next steps in the coming week.

The priority for myself and the Executive team, is to keep our Shelford Community informed as further information becomes available. I appreciate and understand there are many questions not yet adequately answered. Please be assured we are doing our best to get answers in a timely manner. We do appreciate the time-sensitivity of concerns, issues and questions raised.

To ensure a prompt response, please direct questions regarding current Shelford Scholarship eligibility with Caulfield Grammar, to scholarships@caulfieldgs.vic.edu.au and general enquiries regarding campus tours, enrolment queries not related to scholarships to admissions@caulfieldgs.vic.edu.au

Please continue to send other questions and queries to principalsoffice@shelford.vic.edu.au and I encourage you to stay abreast of updates on our FAQs on Shelly.

I have been humbled, though not surprised, by the kind and compassionate support from our parents, who amidst dealing with difficulty, also have the capacity to support staff and me at this difficult time.

Thank you.
