Uniform Recycling Underway

With all students moving into the new school uniform in 2024, the school will now be providing recycling bins for old uniform items to be dropped off. The bins will be available from next week outside the Uniform Shop, during the usual shop opening times.

Our recycling partner asks that you please launder the uniform items prior to handing them on for recycling.

Uniform Shop Trading hours for dropping off your used items are as follows:

  • Mondays – 8.15am to 1.15pm
  • Tuesdays – 8.15am to 3.45pm
  • Thursdays – 8.15am to 3.45pm

The school has chosen to work with Textile Recyclers Australia as a partner for ethical disposal of unwanted uniform items. TRA collaborates to find circular solutions for unwanted textiles, providing recycling solutions for fashion, uniforms and other textiles and creating ‘closed loop’ programs. New items are repurposed in Australia, while used items are sent offshore to be broken down and re-processed.

TRA are also working with academia to find recycling solutions in Australia, including with:

  • UNSW’s Green Ceramics Program
  • Deakin University
  • RMIT
  • Canberra University.

The school recently sent a large load of over 700kg of discontinued uniform items for recycling.
