Year Two

Hello Year Two Families,

We are now in full swing in Term Four, having entered our final unit of inquiry and working towards final assessments of learning for the year.

Reading

The students have been working on analysing fiction and non-fiction texts to support their comprehension skills. They have also been practicing summarising texts, and questioning each other regarding the vocabulary and structural choices authors make.

Writing

The students have been developing their processes for planning, editing and publishing narrative texts. They have been developing more detailed and interesting texts by using richer vocabulary, and adding engaging steps to the solutions in their narratives.

Mathematics

The students have finalised their study of multiplication and division. Throughout the unit, they focused on developing increasingly efficient and accurate strategies for solving real-world problems. They have progressively shown a deeper understanding of the connections to repeated addition and subtraction.

Berry Street Model

The students have continued to develop their awareness of emotions and feelings, and how to manage them effectively to stay balanced in and out of the classroom. Specifically, they have been identifying the differences between emotions and feelings, and where in or on the body they experience them.

Inquiry

The students have commenced their inquiry into how people express important events through celebrations and traditions. They are working towards developing an understanding of the difference between celebrations and commemorations, and looking forward to their class cultural picnic.

 Olympics

The students participated in the Mini Olympics this past Friday. They rotated around six activity stations designed to practice the skills they have developed in P.E. classes throughout the year. It was an enjoyable afternoon, and all students showed their skills and resilience.

Reminders

  • As it is summer, students must wear hats outdoors, or remain in designated shade areas.
  • Students must bring water bottles, and refill them during breaks to stay hydrated.
  • Students arriving at the classroom after 8:30 a.m. must collect a late pass from the front office.
  • If students are absent from school, parents must log reasons on Xuno.
  • Notes have been sent home with details of the cultural picnic event.  Kindly follow up if you are yet unaware of this event.

            Kind Regards
