Welcome to Term 2!

Welcome back to Term 2! We’ve had a positive and busy start, with our Year 10 students heading off to camp and our Year 9 students returning to classes with a renewed focus and readiness for learning.

It has been fantastic to see how quickly the Year 10s have settled back into their routines after camp, approaching their learning with enthusiasm. Similarly, our Year 9 students have done an excellent job maintaining their focus and commitment while the Year 10s were away. It has also been lovely to reconnect with everyone after the break and hear about your holiday experiences—it certainly sounds like a well-earned rest for many.

Regular readers of our bulletin may notice a refreshed look in today’s edition. This design reflects the format used in our end-of-Term 1 newsletter, which received very positive feedback. We are excited to trial this new format for our bulletins and hope you enjoy reading it.

Reminders

Uniform Policy:

Melba College students are encouraged to take pride in their appearance and wearing their school uniform. We expect all students to make a commitment to always wear their school uniform correctly and consistently.

The purpose of the Melba College Student Uniform and Dress Code Policy is to document student dress and appearance requirements and policy implementation and exemption processes.

  • Non uniform jackets, jumpers and hoodies are not permitted; however, a rain jacket can be worn to and from school when the weather is wet.
  • Any clothing worn under the uniform to provide extra warmth must not be visible.
  • Plain black scarves and black gloves can be worn. They are not to be worn inside the classrooms unless an exemption is granted by the principal or their nominee
  • Students must wear items from either the Academic uniform lists or Sport uniform lists. Combining items from these two lists will be interpreted as being out of uniform.

Any students out of uniform may recieve consequences as per our uniform policy. Please refer to the school website for more information.

Rubbish in the yard:

Keeping our school grounds clean is a shared responsibility and an important reflection of our school values. Recently, we have noticed an increase in rubbish being left in the yard. While this may seem small, it impacts the pride we take in our environment and the respect we show to one another.

By taking a moment to place rubbish in the bin, we demonstrate responsibility and respect for our school community. Looking after our shared spaces also shows integrity and care, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a clean and welcoming environment.

We encourage all students to take ownership of their surroundings and support one another in keeping our school clean. Small actions make a big difference, and together we can continue to uphold the values that make our school a positive place to learn and grow.
