Supporting the Safety and Wellbeing of Our Families

At our school, the safety and wellbeing of our students and their families is always our priority. We understand that sometimes things at home or in relationships may not feel right, or families may be concerned about the wellbeing of their children or young people. In these situations, support is available.

One important service available to families in Victoria is The Orange Door.

What is The Orange Door?

The Orange Door is a free service that helps individuals and families access the support they need—quickly and easily. You do not need a referral, and you can reach out at any time.

They provide support for:

  • Families concerned about their child or young person’s wellbeing or development
  • Parenting challenges
  • Young, isolated, or unsupported families
  • Individuals and families experiencing family violence
  • Adults or young people using violence in the home

How can The Orange Door help?

When you contact The Orange Door, they can:

  • Work with you to understand your needs and concerns
  • Support your child’s wellbeing and development
  • Help create a safety plan if you are feeling unsafe
  • Connect you with services such as counselling, housing support, mental health services, parenting programs, and financial or legal assistance

How our school can support

Our school may speak with students or families about The Orange Door and encourage them to reach out for support where appropriate. In some situations, the school may make a referral to ensure a child’s safety and wellbeing—particularly if:

  • Informing the family may increase risk, or
  • Not connecting to support may place the child at greater risk

We are committed to working in partnership with families to ensure every child feels safe, supported, and able to thrive.
