Wellbeing

At Balambalam Primary School, we know that every day of learning matters. Regular school attendance plays a vital role in helping children feel connected, confident and successful. When students attend school consistently, they can build strong relationships, establish positive routines, develop confidence and stay engaged in their learning.

Each school day our students learn new skills, practise previously taught concepts, collaborate with peers and participate in the many experiences that make school such an important part of childhood. It also helps students maintain momentum in their learning and strengthens their sense of belonging within our school community.

We recognise that this time of year often brings an increase in coughs, colds and other illnesses. There will always be times when students need to stay home to rest and recover, and we appreciate families making these decisions when their child is unwell. Thank you also for continuing to record absences through Compass so we can ensure every child is accounted for and supported.

While occasional absences may seem small, they can add up quickly over time. Missing just one day per fortnight can equate to approximately four weeks of learning across a school year. Regular attendance supports not only academic growth, but also friendships, confidence, participation and a student's overall sense of connection to school.

At Balambalam Primary School, we value the strong partnerships we share with our families. We understand that attendance challenges can sometimes arise due to wellbeing concerns, anxiety, friendships, learning difficulties, family circumstances or changes in routine. If your family is experiencing challenges that are impacting your child's attendance, we encourage you to reach out to your child's classroom teacher or our Wellbeing Team.

By working together, we can put supports in place early and help every student feel connected, supported and ready to learn. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive, learn and belong at Balambalam Primary School.

As we head into the school holidays, we would like to remind our community that the school will be closed for the next two weeks.

Here are a list of key wellbeing support services that may be helpful for students, families, or community members who require additional support during the break.

We wish all of our students and families a safe, enjoyable, and restful holiday period.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for what promises to be a fantastic Term 3.

Warm regards,
