Learning Together: How our Inclusive Education Team is Keeping Busy this Term

Term 2 at Pilgrim is a hive of activity, and the Inclusive Education team has been out and about across the school. Here's a glimpse into what we've been up to.

Checking in on Literacy Progress

Understanding where our students are mid-year helps us make sure the support we provide is timely and well-matched to their needs. This month, the Inclusive Education team has been working alongside classroom teachers to collect mid-year literacy data across Foundation to Year 6. This process helps us build a clear picture of each student's growth since the start of the year, identify where extra support might make a difference, and ensure our adjustments are well-targeted and personalised.

It's a collaborative effort - teachers, students, and the Inclusive Education team all play a part - and the information gathered will shape our planning for the second half of the year.

Behind the Scenes of the School Musical

It's been an exciting time as our school musical season ramps up, and the Inclusive Education team has been happy to roll up their sleeves and get involved. Supporting rehearsals means more than just extra hands in the room - it's about making sure every student can participate fully and confidently, whatever that looks like for them. From helping students navigate busy, stimulating spaces to providing encouragement in the wings, the team has loved being part of the energy and creativity that comes with musical season and we can't wait for you to see our students present another showstopper in Week 10!

Celebrating Reconciliation Week

Each year, National Reconciliation Week provides an opportunity for our school community to learn from the past and look to the future of reconciliation in Australia. Through activities and conversations that honoured the histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, students were supported to engage thoughtfully and respectfully in dance, weaving, cooking and art. For many of our students, having familiar support close by helps them participate more confidently and step out of their comfort zones. It was wonderful to see so many students engaged and curious.

There's plenty more to come in Term 3 and 4, and we look forward to sharing it with you.
