Performing Arts
with Mrs Sarah Bailey
This past fortnight, students had the opportunity to share their talents in the area of Performing Arts to each other. This was a chance for students who undertake extra-curricular lessons to practise performing in front of an audience and also for small groups to form and perform an item they self composed, choreographed and organised. It was great to speak to those who have formal music lessons to talk about how many times a week they practise, how to read music, why they enjoy playing and how an instrument works. The theatre went quiet as we listened to students playing the guitar, piano, vocals and drums. We saw Irish, tap, contemporary dances and plenty of self choreographed groups. We even had a home-grown poet share her material and a group of boys share a collection of favourite jokes. As a teacher, it is a wonderful opportunity to observe the growth in competance and confidence that I see students share as they return each year to perform. Keep it up everyone and well done parents for investing in your child's development in this way. Our school utilises 'Wonnies' for 'school based lessons' https://www.wonnies.com.au/ but we also have wonderful local external music teachers and dance clubs in the community - please reach out if you need contact details. Original Poems performed by Jasmin - Yr 4
Baby Bird learns to fly
"Baby Bird," says Mama Bird
"I think you should learn to fly"
"No Mama, I cant fly"
"Come on Baby Bird, just give it a try"
"It's too high, I could never fly that high in the sky"
"OK then, lets start small,
You don't have to fly from somewhere big and tall."
"OK Mama I'll give it a try
Look at me Mama, I can fly!"
Baby Bird
Up in the nest a Mama bird has a rest
Her baby bird flies away hoping to have fun that day
The baby bird flew from door to door
And then the rain started to pour
Baby bird was cold and wet
And Mama bird was starting to fret
Baby bird says "Someone help me please!"
And Mama bird luckily sees.
Baby bird is very upset
And Mama bird says no need to fret
Then she takes him back to the nest
Where they both have a rest.
