Principal Reflections

Thank you, Mrs Rafferty
As part of Catholic Schools Week last week, we were delighted to recognise and celebrate Mrs Deb Rafferty for her many years of service in Catholic education.
During her time at St Ed's, Deb has exemplified the values at the heart of Catholic education through her professionalism, dedication, faith, and genuine love of teaching. She is deeply respected within our St Edward’s community and is known for her warmth, compassion, and unwavering commitment to ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and capable of success.
Throughout her career, Deb has created learning environments where students feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn. She has a wonderful ability to nurture curiosity, build confidence, and foster a genuine love of learning in every child she teaches. Deb’s impact extends far beyond academic achievement; she understands that education is about developing the whole child. Guided by her faith and a deep sense of care for others, she approaches each day with kindness, patience, and compassion, helping students grow not only as learners but also as confident, respectful and caring young people.
As a colleague, Deb is a valued member of every team she joins. She generously shares her knowledge and experience, mentors others with humility, and brings positivity, wisdom, and encouragement to those around her. Nothing is ever a trouble for Deb, and her calm, reassuring presence has been a source of support through the many changes and landscapes of education over the years.
Deb has now decided to step back from full-time work and enjoy the flexibility of some casual days, so we will still have the pleasure of working with Deb in this capacity.
A big thank you to Mrs Rafferty for her outstanding contribution to the teaching profession. We are so happy that we will still get to see you and work with you as a casual teacher.
Year 6 Shirts
The Year 6 commemorative polo shirts have arrived, and students were thrilled to receive their shirts and proudly see their name alongside those of their classmates, celebrating the friendships and memories they have created during their time at St Edward’s School.
A standout feature of this year’s shirt is the Indigenous-inspired artwork. The design was chosen through a Student Voice process. The shirts are wonderful keepsakes that reflect the spirit and identity of the Year 6 class as they complete their final months at primary school.
Winter Uniform
We wish to advise parents that the official date for changeover from summer to winter uniform is generally after the June long weekend (Tuesday 9th June). However, as the weather has turned a little cooler in the morning, we are now allowing students to wear either a full winter (INCLUDING A TIE) or a full summer uniform during this transition period. School uniform items are available for purchase from LOWES in Tamworth. Thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring your child wears the correct uniform to school.
Have a wonderful week.
Keep smiling,
Alison Hatton
