Message from the Principal
Cecilia Parada
This week, our school is proud to join in celebrating Neurodiversity Pride Week, a time to recognise and embrace the unique strengths and talents of all students. Each day offers a fun and meaningful way for students to participate and show support for neurodiversity.
We encourage everyone to participate and help build an inclusive school environment where every brain is celebrated. Let’s make this Neurodiversity Pride Week a memorable and joyful experience for all.

At Meadowbank Public School, we follow the NSW Department of Education’s guidelines on mobile phone/smart watch use to help create the best learning environment for our students. We know that phones/smart watches can sometimes distract from learning and affect wellbeing, so we have a clear plan to manage their use during the school day.
Our approach: All students are asked to keep their mobile phones/smart watches switched off and stored safely in their school bags throughout the entire school day, including recess and lunch. This helps students stay focused, encourages positive social interaction, and reduces risks like online bullying. We use other appropriate technologies in the classroom to support learning, ensuring students are prepared for life beyond school while staying safe and connected.
Exemptions: For students who need to use their phones/smart watches for medical, wellbeing, or learning reasons, we can arrange exemptions. Our Learning and Support Coordinator will work with families to make any necessary adjustments.
Contacting students: In emergencies, parents and carers can contact the school office at 02 9809 3648, and students can call home through the office if needed. We encourage keeping phone use to a minimum during school hours to avoid disturbing learning.
This plan helps us maintain a safe, respectful, and focused school environment for everyone. Thank you for your support.
Meadowbank Public School warmly invites families who have arrived in Australia in the past 12 months to join us for a special morning tea. This event is a wonderful opportunity for new families to meet school staff and other parents, ask questions, and learn more about school life in Australia.
During the morning tea, we will share helpful information about how our school works, explain routines and expectations, and discuss ways to support your child’s learning and wellbeing. It’s also a great chance to connect with other families who are settling into their new community.
We look forward to welcoming you and helping make your transition to Meadowbank Public School as smooth and enjoyable as possible. We hope to see you there.
Our P&C meeting term is scheduled for Tuesday, 16 June. It will take place in the school staffroom and online via Teams, starting at 7:30 pm.
All families and community members are welcome to attend.
