Notes for AFL Football

In the context of the Year 9/10 SSATIS round-robin competition, each participating school is allowed to enter only one team. As a result, trials may be necessary to determine the final squad that will represent the school.

If the number of participating teams justifies it, and there is sufficient interest from schools, a second team may be formed to compete in Division 2. The decision to add this additional team will depend on the final registration numbers with SATIS.

Once students have been selected for the squad, they will be expected to commit to participating in all four scheduled games. These games are set to take place on the following dates: July 30, August 6, August 13, and August 20. It is important to note that being unavailable for any of these games will significantly impact future selections for prestigious events such as the Gadomski Cup, the Tassie Hawks Cup, and any proposed interstate tours.

Further details regarding the dates for both the Gadomski Cup and the Tassie Hawks Cup will be provided as soon as they are confirmed, ensuring that everyone stays informed and prepared.

First Aid and Sports Trainers Needed

We are seeking assistance from qualified Parents or Carers for our AFL, Soccer, and Hockey teams. If you hold any relevant qualifications and are available to lend your support, please provide your details below. It’s important to note that all individuals offering their services in a first aid or sports trainer role must possess a valid Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) card and complete a brief induction program for College Volunteers.

Registration Details

Please be advised that the registration period closes promptly at 5:00 PM on Friday, 20 June 2025. To ensure a smooth registration process, we kindly ask that Students and their Parents/Carers discuss their options prior to signing up. This cooperation will help prevent any duplicate registrations or enrollment in activities that the student may not be interested in participating in. The days and times allotted for each activity are listed above to facilitate thoughtful decisions.

To register, please click here to complete the Google Form.

Commitment to Participation

Once students have registered and been placed on a team, it is crucial that they commit to attending all scheduled games throughout the season, including any finals. This commitment is vital for fostering team cohesion and ensuring optimal team performance. In the unfortunate circumstance that a student is unwell or suffers an injury preventing them from playing, it is essential to inform the team coach at the earliest opportunity. Timely communication enables the coach to make necessary adjustments to the team's lineup, maximizing the team's competitive edge.

Inclusivity at St Virgil's College

At St Virgil's College, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive institution. We strive to accommodate all students who register for their chosen activities. However, please note that in situations where numbers or resources are limited, selection trials and specific criteria may be implemented.

Upcoming Information

Further details regarding team trials(if required), team lists, rosters, and other pertinent information for the Term 3 Co-Curricular Activities will be provided in the near future.

Transportation and Uniform Requirements

For the convenience of our students, the College will provide transportation for the boys from Austins Ferry to their designated sporting venues each afternoon via bus. Parents and carers are responsible for picking up the boys after the conclusion of their matches.

It is mandatory for boys to provide their own sport-specific uniforms, which differ from the official school day sports uniform. These uniforms can be purchased at the Uniform Shop, which operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. For additional inquiries, you can reach the Uniform Shop at 6249 3610 or via email at st.virgils@midford.com.au .

Behavior and Academic Expectations

Participation in all St Virgil's College Sports Programs requires students to consistently meet the College's expectations for behavior and academic effort. Being a representative of the College is a privilege, and ongoing involvement in Co-Curricular Activities will be contingent on behavior monitoring and feedback from Heads of House and College Leadership.
