It was a pleasure to welcome everyone back after the break. Connecting with staff in the staff room and passing through the school yard, it was inspiring to see the joyful voices of community members feeling refreshed and eager to engage once again.
This term, we are pleased to introduce new students, including an exchange student from Spain, who will commence early next week. Additionally, we extend a warm welcome to Chelsea Tofful and Navi Dutt, who have joined our Learning Support Team, and Steven Venter, who has begun teaching Year 7 and 8 classes.
Our students and staff involved in this year's school production of *Grease* have increased their rehearsal efforts, refining their performances and memorising lines in preparation for the upcoming shows in August. The students will perform on Wednesday, 20th August, with matinee and evening performances scheduled from Thursday, 21st to Sunday, 24th August.
Our school productions consistently showcase the remarkable talents of our students. The production team, led by Producer Talia Henderson, dedicates many hours to support our students' growth and provide them with opportunities to excel on stage—a true reflection of their passion. We encourage families to purchase tickets for this year's performance, which are now available. Don’t miss the chance to see the show.
At the end-of-term assembly, I emphasised the importance of upholding our school values of Compassion, Dignity, Forgiveness, Generosity, Respect, and Reverence. It is evident that society often witnesses the repercussions of poor decision-making. As educators and mentors, we understand that young people may sometimes make unwise choices, and we are committed to working with them to reflect and learn, helping them become better individuals.
I also highlighted the importance of students keeping mobile phones in their lockers during the school day. Distractions during class time impede learning, and breaks are an opportunity for students to engage face-to-face and build relationships. We acknowledge these practices are ongoing efforts, and we appreciate parental support in encouraging students to follow this guideline.
