YEAR 10 PEER SUPPORT: A JOURNEY OF LEADERSHIP AND CONNECTION
MRS LAURA CROW AND MR LUKE CROW
Last term marked the conclusion of the Year 10 Peer Support elective, a program designed to foster leadership, empathy, and community engagement among our students. Guided by Mr and Mrs Crow, the students embraced every opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, challenge themselves, and grow both individually and as a group.
Throughout the course, students worked alongside a range of local community organisations, including Logan Lodge, SHOP Active, Mallee Sports Assembly, and Swan Hill Specialist School. These partnerships provided invaluable experiences, allowing students to develop their communication, teamwork, and leadership skills while making meaningful contributions to the wider community.
Mr and Mrs Crow reflected on the remarkable growth they witnessed in the students. They noted how the Peer Support journey encouraged students to build confidence, show compassion, and gain a deeper understanding of the power of connection and service.
“We cannot thank these organisations enough for being such an important part of our students’ learning journey,” said Mrs Crow. “The generosity, time, and support they have shown have helped shape an experience that students will carry with them well beyond the classroom.”
The friendships and connections formed, both within the group and with members of the community, have left a lasting impact on the students. As a school, we look forward to building on these partnerships in future years and continuing to create opportunities for our young leaders to give back.
