SEUSSICAL JR – A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
What an absolutely magical evening we shared on Friday 27th June, as our students brought the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss to life in Seussical JR, our very first school musical with a full lead cast.
Students lit up the stage with singing, dancing and storytelling — and the result was something truly special. Their energy, courage, and creativity shone in every moment, and we couldn’t have been prouder of what they accomplished.
Productions like Seussical JR aren’t just about the final performance. They’re filled with rich learning experiences where students grow in confidence, collaboration and resilience. Whether they were learning choreography, helping a nervous castmate backstage, or finding their voice in a new role, every student took on the challenge with heart.
It was also incredibly moving to see our school community come together — families, staff, and students — all gathered in the theatre to celebrate this milestone. The joy in the room was electric, and the smiles said it all.
A huge thank you goes to our brilliant Performing Arts teachers, Nicola Downie and Elissa Banfield, whose vision and dedication brought this production to life. Their commitment behind the scenes was enormous, and they ensured every student had the opportunity to be part of something magical.
WELCOME TO COUNTRY & INDIGENOUS GARDEN PROJECT
On Wednesday 2nd July, our school came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week with a Welcome to Country ceremony, performed by a representative from the Bunurong Land Council. This special event marked the beginning of a meaningful project connecting students to Country, culture and environment.
As part of the ceremony, all students had the opportunity to visit our new Indigenous Garden, located beside the STEM building. Each student planted a native plant — carefully selected to attract local frogs and increase biodiversity in our school environment. The plants were chosen with advice from a local nursery and placed amongst hand-painted totem poles, created with the guidance of Indigenous artist Sam Richards. These totems were installed in the shape of the Southern Cross, symbolising our connection to the land and sky.
The garden will soon include a small frog pond and rockery, designed using data collected by students on sunlight, wind, and rainfall in the area. One of the plants chosen even helps attract native frogs — something we’re all excited to watch evolve as the garden grows.
A big thank you to Mr Pattison, our STEM teacher, for leading this incredible project and giving our students such a rich opportunity to engage with culture and sustainability. We also thank the Pakenham Gazette for visiting and sharing this special moment with our broader community — keep an eye out for the article!
LOST PROPERTY & SECOND-HAND UNIFORM
If you haven’t already, please take a moment to check the latest Compass post for photos of items currently in lost property. While all labelled school uniform has been returned to students, we still have a number of unlabelled non-uniform items waiting to be claimed.
Any non-uniform items (such as lunchboxes, drink bottles, and casual clothing) that remain uncollected at the end of term will be donated.
Unlabelled school uniform items — including hats, jackets, jumpers and beanies — have now been moved into our Second-Hand Uniform Shop, which is open and operating through the school office.
As we head into the break, it’s also a great time to check and relabel uniforms, as names often fade with washing. Clear labelling helps us return items more easily next term.
END OF TERM – EARLY FINISH & HOLIDAY WISHES
As we wrap up what has been a big and rewarding term, we want to take a moment to thank our students, staff and families for all your efforts and energy. There has been so much to be proud of — from learning achievements to performances and projects — and now it's time for everyone to take a well-earned rest.
A reminder that school will finish at 2:00pm tomorrow (Friday). Our final assembly will take place in the gym from 1:30pm–2:00pm, and families are warmly invited to attend. Students will be dismissed directly from the gym at the end of assembly.
We wish all of our families a safe and relaxing term break, and we look forward to welcoming our community back on Monday 21st July.
