What a busy fortnight it has been at PVNPS! We have had the joy of dressing up for Science Week and then the thrill of the Book Week Parade all in the same month.  A fortnight filled with fun, costumes, activities and engaging activities.

Book Week was alive in the 1/2 classrooms last week. It was wonderful to celebrate Book Week's 80th year with the theme 'Book an Adventure. Book Week was a welcome reminder to embrace the joy of reading, the power of stories, and the way books can take us on adventures without even leaving our chair. Throughout the week, the 1/2 classes visited the Library,

read and voted on short listed books, played book week bingo, created puppets, shared their favourite stories, completed book reviews and of course dressed up as book characters. A fabulous week was enjoyed by all! It was wonderful to see so many parents enjoy the Book Week Parade and wait patiently for the technical issues to be resolved.

Concert Reminders

Students must wear black pants and a black t-shirt. Please arrive at the Stage Door at Pascoe Vale Girls College at 5.40 pm on Thursday the 4th of September. Students will need a coat or dressing gown to wear on top of their black t-shirt and pants. We also encourage students to eat dinner before they arrive and bring a plastic bag with snacks and a labelled water bottle on the night. The full day rehearsal on the Wednesday will be during school hours and students will be travelling via bus to Pascoe Vale Girls Secondary College. Students do NOT need to wear their costume for the full day rehearsal. They can wear school uniform, bring snacks, lunch and a water bottle. Please ensure your child is at school on time. Students who are not participating in the concert, will work in another class for the day of the rehearsal.

Other Reminders

Please provide a drink bottle each day for your child.

Encourage your child to read at home daily for 10-15 minutes. Read a variety of books, recipes, magazines and songs even..

The weather is improving, so try to send along your child's school hat to school.

Homework is due on a Friday each week and reinforces their classroom learning, so try to make homework a habit and a positive experience.

We are starting to learn about Mass in Maths next week. Try to encourage your child to estimate how heavy household items are and measure the weight of different pantry items. You may also want to ask your child to estimate, then measure their own weight. We will be introducing the vocabulary of  balancing, heavy, light estimating, hefting, weighing, grams, kilograms and tonnes.
