Principal's Message

Prayer for Safety and Care
Loving God,
We thank You for the gift of our school community;
our students, families, and staff.
Watch over us each day as we travel to and from school.
Guide our choices, keep us alert, and help us to always act with care and kindness.
May we work together to protect one another, and show respect in all that we do.
Amen.
Safety First: A Reminder About Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures
Dear Parents and Carers,
At St Andrew’s, the safety of our students, families, and staff remains our highest priority. As we work together to keep our school community safe, we’d like to remind you of the established drop-off and pick-up arrangements, which were developed in consultation with the local council.
These procedures support safe and efficient traffic flow and help prevent unsafe practices and near misses involving children. Recently, our School Advisory Council worked with council to introduce 'No U-Turn' signage in the school zone—another key step in reducing risk during busy times. The St Andrew’s Traffic Plan shows these zone on a map.
Car Parks – Staff Only
All on-site car parks are strictly for staff use only. Families are not permitted to enter or park in these areas during school hours.
Please note: while the gates may sometimes be open, this does not indicate permission to enter. Open gates allow for deliveries and scheduled staff access only.
Pick-Up and Drop-Off Zones
There are three safe and efficient ways to drop off and collect your child:
- Kiss and Go Zone (Bunney Road)
- Designed for quick drop-offs and pick-ups.
- Drivers must remain in their vehicle at all times.
- Maximum stopping time is 2 minutes.
- 5-Minute Parking Zone (Street Parking)
- This is a street parking area, not on school grounds.
- You may briefly leave your car to walk your child to or from the gate.
- You must depart within 5 minutes.
- Park and Walk
- For longer visits or extra time, please park legally 1–2 minutes away from the school (e.g. Bunney Road, Bald Hill Park or nearby streets) and walk in.
- This helps reduce congestion and improves safety near the gates.
These zones are in place to reduce the risk of accidents and to keep traffic moving safely — above all, they are about ensuring the safety of everyone in our school community.
Council Enforcement and Fines
Please be aware that enforcement is carried out independently by the local council, and fines may exceed $180 per offence. Council officers regularly patrol the area, especially during school drop-off and pick-up times.
Ongoing Partnership with the City of Kingston
Over the next 12 months, we will be working closely with the City of Kingston through its Community Road Safety Programs. This includes participation in a council-run road safety education program, aimed at supporting families and students in building safe travel habits.
We thank you for your continued cooperation and for doing your part to keep our children safe. Let’s continue working together to protect our students and model positive road safety behaviour in our community.
Regards
Brian Martin
