Let’s go, GRPS!

What are we working on?

Preps

Over the past few weeks, in addition to reinforcing their knowledge of Indonesian colours and numbers, Prep students began exploring new vocabulary related to animals (Hewan). They completed a task that focused primarily on counting animals and learning their names in Indonesian. Through this activity, students also developed their problem-solving skills while working through the counting exercises. Overall, it was an engaging and enjoyable learning experience for everyone involved.

Grade 1 to Grade 6

When learning a language, students are not only acquiring linguistic knowledge but also immersing themselves in the culture. As we approach the end of Term 2, students had the opportunity to play congklak, a traditional Indonesian board game, with their peers. Through this game, they applied pragmatic strategies to gain extra turns and practiced patience along the way. It was wonderful to see such active participation and thinking skills on display throughout the classroom. Bagus sekali, anak-anak!

Chinese Mandarin Club

At the Chinese Mandarin Club, learners have been exploring commonly used courtesy greetings, such as 你好 (nǐ hǎo – hello), 你好吗 (nǐ hǎo ma – how are you?), 谢谢 (xiè xiè – thank you), and 再见 (zài jiàn – goodbye). They did an amazing job making connections between Chinese characters, Pinyin, English translations, and related images. Keep up the great work, learners!
