This Week's Updates
Dear Families,
Winter has truly arrived with some rain and a few cold mornings. Unfortunately, the rain has created a muddy lower grassed play area and we may now need to keep students off this area on many days. Neither parents nor staff want any students with muddy clothing items! To help with this we are now able to open up the grassed area outside of the Frank St fence/gate.
I have been negotiating this with our Whitehorse Council and MACS to establish a safe way to use this space over some playtimes. I presented this information to our School Advisory Council who also had input into this model and decision.
We are going to trial the following system over the next few weeks of term : On Tuesdays and Wednesdays we will open up this area for students in Years 5/6 this term and possibly expand to students in Yr 3 - 6 next term. Students will be informed about safety procedures, out of bounds areas and various procedures regarding how to use the area.
Prep 2026 Enrolments
If you're having trouble completing the online forms to accept a Prep 2026 place, please contact Emir in the office for hard copies—she can upload them for you.
St James School Bus
Some families may be aware of the daily School Bus service that students can take to arrive at school in the morning and take home in the afternoon. If families are interested and would like to know more about the service, please refer to the link below and reach out to the school's administration for further details.
Message from the St James P&F Wild West Night committee
We are seeking donations for our wine raffle. We kindly welcome donations of wine, champagne and spirits, as they will contribute significantly to the success of our fundraising. One of our P&F representatives will be at the top school gate in the morning to gratefully receive any donations on the following dates:
- Thursday 19th June
- Tuesday 24th June
- Wednesday 2nd July
- Friday 25th July
Every day during the week commencing 28th July.
Alternatively, if these dates aren't suitable, then donations can also be dropped off at the office at any time. Many thanks in advance from the St James P&F Wild West Night committee
Other Important Items:
- We are collecting grocery items for our St Vinnies Winter appeal to be handed over at our Feast of the Sacred Heart Mass on Friday 27 June at 12pm
- There have been a number of student absences recently due to holidays. Please remember that it is an expectation that you email myself, in addition to your classroom teachers to seek permission for family holidays during school time.
- School Fees - families not on a payment plan should have either made part contributions or had a conversation with Lisa or myself regarding the timing of your payment. It is expected that fees will be paid in full by end of Term 3 if you are not on a payment plan.

The St John's Parish Dinner Dance takes place on Saturday 5 July 2025 from 7pm to 12 midnight at St John’s Parish Hall, 494 Whitehorse Rd, Mitcham. Donation: $50 per person - Sumptuous buffet dinner by Sanni 18—BYO drinks
