Senior Arts & Culture Excursion

Thursday 4th & Friday 5th April.

We enjoyed the bus ride to Canberra (with some very invested games of I Spy). Students enjoyed a round of bowling & arcade games before turning in for the night. We are looking forward to exploring Canberra’s galleries & museums tomorrow!

The Modern History class started the day at the National Library. They learnt research techniques both in the library and on online collections. They had a hands on experience with the old tubular catalog system. After lunch they visited numerous memorials and had a tour of the Australian War Memorial, focusing on the conflict in the pacific.

Visual Arts students started off at the National Portrait Gallery where they viewed historic and contemporary portraits and participated in a collaborative drawing activity. This was followed by a walk through the Sculpture Garden (during a fortunate break in the weather). After lunch, they had a tour of the National Gallery of Art. They viewed and discussed works that complemented their studies of Feminist Art and Intersectional Issues, before finishing with an expressive mixed-media collage activity.

A great day was had by all and thank you to Mr Horrell & Ms Golding for organising and taking the student to Canber
