Rotary Art Show Success

Once again our students have achieved great success at the annual Rotary Art Show.  It was such a privilege to attend the opening night on Friday and to see our student art works proudly displayed as part of the exhibition. From what I could see, we have achieved some amazing results.  Please see just some of the art works I was able to capture.  We await the final results. If you have time this week, I recommend you and your family head down to the Uralla Memorial Hall to check out the quality art works in the exhibition.

Lots of Socks - Fundraiser on Friday

We are encouraging all students and staff to wear some "loud", crazy socks on Friday to raise money and awareness for down syndrome.  This is also an out of uniform day, so students do NOT need to wear their school uniform. Please bring along a small donation if you are able to and we will send this off as part of our fund raiser.

P&C Street Stall

Thank you to our P&C and the many parents and families who assisted with the stall throughout the week.  We had a number of people who donated items to sell and raffle, as well as those who were able to provide some time to help operate the stall at various times throughout the week.  Our Year 6 students had a great time while they were there on Thursday!  Thanks to all involved.  Please see information in the P&C section of this newsletter.

Updated Rocky River Letterhead

You may notice a slight change in our school letterhead in the coming weeks.  I have used student designs to embed some local Aboriginal graphics into our signage and banners. Here is an example of what we are working on:

Personalised Learning Plan Meetings

We would welcome your input in the form of a 10 minute meeting to discuss your child’s progress at school and to view their personalised learning plan. The process would involve an organised time to meet at school in person or by phone.  We really encourage students, parents and teachers to meet together as part of a three-way interview, however we are happy to adapt this if you wish.

As part of the plan, teachers will identify an area in English and Maths where they feel students would be able to progress further and they will provide ideas on how this can occur. Parents and students are also invited to put forward a “personal goal” to be included in the plan. Overall progress across all areas of their learning will also be discussed. Our meetings will be focused and productive, hence the need for only ten minutes of your time.

We will be holding interviews from Tuesday 2nd April to Wednesday 10th April.  We are leaving meeting times open to assist you in managing work and family commitments with staff available at various times between 8.30am and 3.15pm.

If you would like to arrange a time to meet with your child’s teacher, please contact us at the office to organise a suitable time.

We look forward to meeting with you soon.

Easter Hat Parade and Assembly

Please remember that we will hold our Easter Hat Parade and Assembly next Thursday 28th March from 2.00pm. All students are creating an Easter Hat at school, but we also invite students to create one at home and bring this along on the day if they wish.  The P&C will also be running a small Easter Egg Hunt after the assembly.

Upper Division Coffs Harbour Excursion

Just a reminder to families in Upper Division that expressions of interest for your child to attend the Coffs Harbour Excursion close next Thursday 28th March.  Please click the link below for further information.  At this stage, we only have about 40% of the class attending which may mean the excursion cannot go ahead.  Please contact me at the school if you have any questions.

Happy Easter

As this is the last newsletter before Easter, I would like to wish all students and their families a very Happy Easter.  If you are travelling, please take care on the roads.  Easter will be held from Friday 29th March to Monday 1st April.  School resumes on Tuesday 2nd April.
