Supporting Cultural Diversity and Inclusiveness

On Thursday, the staff and students at SFS celebrated the importance of embracing cultural diversity by participating in Harmony Day activities. The entire school participated in a prayer service in the hall and the school choir led the singing. Students dressed in clothing from their families cultural background or wore orange clothing to show their support for cultural diversity and inclusiveness, both in our school and Australia. Thanks to the teachers, and in particular Rachel, for all their planning and preparation in making yesterday such a great day for students.

Annual Review of Medical Management at School

Parents are to ensure that they have provided the school with an updated and current Medical Management Plan for their child.

All relevant plans and forms pertaining to the student’s medical, health care, or personal care needs is to be reviewed annually or as indicated according to the condition specific plan (e.g. asthma action plan is reviewed every six months)

Medical Management Plan

For any student with an identified health, mobility or personal care need, the appropriate Medical Management Plan must be completed by the relevant Medical/Health Practitioner.

Parents are to ensure the updated plan has been uploaded to Operoo before the annual review date.

A Student Health Support Plan outlines how the school will support the student’s medical, health care and wellbeing needs, based on the documented relevant Medical Management Plan completed and endorsed by the student’s treating medical/health practitioner.

Student Health Support Plans will be reviewed and signed at PSG meetings in Term 2 ,if applicable, to support the daily health needs of a student.

Medical Authority Form

If the student takes medication during school hours for their condition, the Medication Authority Form must also be completed and updated as required by a registered Medical/Health Practitioner and provided to the school by the authorised parent/guardian/carer.

Parents are advised that the school is not permitted to administer any medication to a child without a  Medical Authority Form. The principal or their delegate must approve all ongoing and regular administration of medication (over the counter or prescription) by the school and in most cases, medication must not be administered to a child being educated and cared for unless this form is signed by an AHPRA registered medical practitioner or pharmacist.

Please see the school website for copies of all school policies related to medical needs.
