ART NEWS
What fun we have been having in the Art room as we continue to develop our fine motor skills and explore our own imaginations.
Our Grade Prep students have been learning about scissor safety and have participated in targeted lessons, which focus on the correct grip and use of scissors, ensuring that everyone remains safe in the Art room!
The Preps along with the Grade 1s and 2s have been learning about the relationships between colours and how we can categorize and combine colours, to create vibrant pieces of art.
Our Grades 3 – 6 have taken a quick trip around Australia, participating in a read aloud of Alison Lester’s, “Are we there yet?”, before each selecting a part of the book, which they would like to create a visual recount of.
It has been so rewarding to see the individual approaches to and adaptations of this terrific story, which celebrates many iconic parts of our country. Students have been encouraged to make text to self-connections, to give further meaning to their artwork.
We can’t wait to see the finished pieces!
Thank you everyone for a positive start to the year, take care over the Easter holidays.
