Congratulations to 2PS, 1SQ and 1LP who have 100% of their students already complete the Premiers Reading Challenge.
The Challenge is open to all Victorian children in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books.Every student at Wheelers Hill Primary is registered for the Challenge. Your child’s class teacher will provide you with their username and password. To enter books and view the booklists visit: https://vprc.eduweb.vic.gov.au/home
What does my child need to read to complete the challenge? For Prep to Year 2 students: Children can read books by themselves or with someone else, for example, a parent, teacher, sibling, buddy or friend. You can help your child or read the book to them if they are just learning to read.Your child’s Challenge books can come from the list for their year level or a level higher. Prep - Year 2 students are to read or ‘experience’ 30 books (at least 20 of these from the Challenge list).Year 3 - 6 students are to read 15 books (at least 10 of these from the Challenge list).
All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier. For more information about the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge, visit: www.vic.gov.au/premiers-reading-challenge
The final day to record books will be Friday 30th August, 2024. There are thousands of books on the list. You are welcome to visit the school library, the local library or to re-read books you have at home!
