Introduction to the new NESA Syllabus (English K-10 and Mathematics K-10)

As part of the Statewide roll-out of the new NESA (New South Wales, Education Standards Authority), Syllabuses (English K-10 and Mathematics K-10), the K-2 (Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2) component of the new syllabuses were introduced and implemented last year (2023).

This year (2024), the new syllabuses for English and Mathematics in Stages 2 and 3 (Years 3-6) have been introduced and implemented.

Along with the new syllabuses come new focus areas for teaching, learning, assessing and reporting. The Semester 1 reports which will be distributed live to parents via the COMPASS portal on Monday, 1st July will reflect the content taught from the new English and Mathematics syllabuses.

The Parent Guides presented in the links below provide an overview and explanation of the structure, content and terminology in the syllabuses and the focus areas which will be reported on in the Semester 1 Reports.
