Magnificent Year Sevens

Year 7 Drama students showed they have a keen sense of humour, completing their Comedy Sketch performances with gusto. For an assessment, the class performed to their peers sharing much laughter as they demonstrated slapstick, puns and conflicts that all ended with a message. The students did an amazing job and acted with professionalism throughout the lesson. Well done Year 7s.

Performing Arts Perspectives

We are thrilled to share with you the notable experience our arts students who attended the 2024 Performing Arts Perspectives showcase on Monday, 18 March. This annual event, held at the Perth Concert Hall, marked a profound moment of inspiration and innovation for our budding performers.

The showcase, a cornerstone of our school's Arts Program, provides a platform for students to witness the artistry and talent of accomplished 2023 ATAR dancers, actors and musicians who return to the stage to showcase their exceptional WACE performances. It is an occasion where creativity knows no bounds and where students can gain insights, techniques and inspiration from preceding ATAR students.

The most inspiring aspect of the evening was seeing our students' faces light up with excitement and passion, fuelling their aspirations and driving them to push the boundaries of their own artistic endeavours. A celebration of creativity, innovation and the spirit of the performing arts, the showcase  reminded us of the power of artistic expression to inspire, provoke thought, and transcend barriers.

We extend our thanks to all the parents, performers, organisers and supporters who made the evening possible. And to our students, we encourage you to carry the spark of inspiration on your journey as artists and performers.

MacBeth

As part of our English program, Year 10 students attended a performance of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, delivered by Edith Cowan University’s third-year Drama students at the Subiaco Cultural Centre. The excursion was the first of our theatre outings for 2024 and provided us with an illuminating comment on the cost of blind ambition and the price we pay when we let go of our moral compass. ECU produced a compelling and sometimes confronting contemporary interpretation of this celebrated tale.

Gin Gin journey

Our Year 12 Physics students had a great time learning Unit 3 & 4 content hands-on – at The Gravity in Discovery Centre, a cut-lunch away in Gin Gin.

Students dropped different-sized water balloons off a very tall (and leaning) tower to show that they reach the ground at the same time. Students looked through telescopes with special filters in to reduce glare and see celestial objects in the sky. And they tested what their highest G-force they could take by spinning in pairs in a centrifugal spinning machine!
