WELC Report

We are almost at the end of Term 1. It has been a short term but students have done a lot of different activities and learned a lot during the short nine weeks.

All the WELC students went on an excursion to the Werribee Zoo on 4 March. Students participated in an educational program about Australian animals and took a tour on the Safari bus. Students had fun learning about many different animals and their habitats outside.

Last week our students all went to Noble Park Aquatic Centre to participate in the Westall Swimming Carnival. A number of our students participated in several events. Some of our students are competent swimmers but others have only beginner’s skills. However, we were very impressed we all those students for participating and getting in the pool and giving it a go! We know that if you continue to approach everything in life with that positive attitude you will be successful! Well done for all students who participated!

This term we have focused on the 4 Care Westall Values in Sub-School assemblies. These values are Care for Yourself, Care for Others, Care for your Learning and Care for the School or Community. In Week 6 we awarded several awards to students who demonstrated these values at school and in the community. Congratulations to Fayyadh, Ahmad, Chanrechna, Solo and Asad! We encourage all students to show these Care Values every day and make Westall proud!

The last day of term is Thursday 28 March. We then have holidays for 2 weeks and school will start again on Monday 15 April.  It is important that students continue to practise their English over the holidays so they continue to improve. We encourage students to speak in English as often as possible, to watch or listen to the English news and to read English books.

We wish all students and their families a safe and happy holidays and look forward to seeing everyone again in Term 2!

Here are some photos throughout the term.

Easter Celebrations at International Student Program

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

I am thrilled to share with you the highlights of our recent Easter celebration here at Westall Secondary College International Student Program. It was a day filled with laughter, excitement, and memorable moments as our international students came together to participate in various festive activities.

**Egg Hunt Extravaganza**

Our students embarked on an adventurous egg hunt, scouring every nook and cranny of the International House to find hidden Easter eggs. The joy on their faces as they discovered each colourful egg was truly heart-warming.

**Egg Tapping War**

Competition heated up as students engaged in the traditional Easter game of egg tapping. With determination in their eyes, they tapped their chosen egg against each other, hoping to emerge victorious. It was a battle of skill and strategy that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

"Intense concentration during the

 Egg Tapping War!"

**Egg and Spoon Relay**

The excitement continued with the egg and spoon relay, where students showcased their coordination and teamwork. Balancing fragile eggs on spoons, they held spoon in their mouth to pass on the egg to the next team member, cheering on their teammates and celebrating every successful handoff.

"Teamwork in action during the Egg and Spoon Relay!"

I am immensely proud of all our students for their enthusiastic participation and engagement throughout the day. These festive activities not only brought joy and laughter but also fostered a sense of community and camaraderie among our international student community.

Big thanks to our amazing staff Ms. Huyen for her outstanding efforts in organising to make this event a success, and to Ms. Khampheuy who spares no effort to ensure our homestay students well taken care of. Our international students are lucky to have you, and I look forward to more memorable moments together in the future.

Warm regards,

Summer Bao
