APS Fair Sat 4th May

THE 2024 APS AUTUMN FAIR UPDATE

Saturday, 4 May 2024, from 2pm – 7pm

The APS School Fair is rapidly approaching! It is our biggest community and fundraising event, a massive source of pride for the kids and a great day out for all the students, their families, and friends.

The fair is 100% run by volunteers, and we need the support of the whole APS community to collect second-hand donations, cakes, jams and preserves in the lead-up. We also need between 250 - 300 volunteers to assist on the day.

Let’s make this year’s event the best yet!

WE NEED EXCELLENT QUALITY DONATIONS

Excellent quality = If you wouldn’t want your child to buy it for $5, don’t donate it.

The number one way you can help is to ensure that all second-hand donations are of excellent, sellable quality so that we avoid items ending up in landfills following the event.

This year, the school can only accept donations on Mondays and Thursdays to limit the impact on Lauren and Lilliana.

Donations can be delivered directly to the signed classroom at the bottom of the double-story portable. The room will have separate donation points for leaving clothes, trashless treasures, books, and soft toys (frankentoys).

Donations will open Monday 25 and Thursday 28 March,

and every Monday and Thursday in April.

WHAT CAN YOU DONATE?

Trashless Treasure: We need excellent-quality used toys, puzzles, games, craft supplies, figurines, art, etc. (No kitchen items or electrics. Nothing broken or with missing pieces. Please count the puzzle pieces and secure the box with an elastic band.)

Second-Hand Clothes and Shoes: We are looking for excellent quality kids and adults clothing, jackets, coats, snow gear, wetsuits, shoes, etc. (limit of 10 items per family, no t-shirts, kids shorts, leggings, or track pants

Calling all Book Donations for the APS Fair:  Once again we will have our very popular book stall at the APS Fair. Please check your bookshelves, your bed-side tables and under everyone's beds for books you no longer need or have room for. We will be taking donations from the following categories: children's books, young adult fiction, adult fiction, adult non-fiction. Please review what you have, and if your pre-loved texts are still in good condition, and able to be enjoyed by another, please bring into the APS Reception; you will then be guided to the portable to unpack your pre-loved books into boxes of the abovementioned categories. Many thanks in advance for your contributions.

Frankentoys: Ever wondered how much plastic goes into a stuffed toy? This stall is all about sustainability, repairing and re-using to make something old, new again. We need donations of old stuffed toys that people don't mind being cut up (No beans or electronics inside, please); these toys will be cut up and stitched back together to make a marvellous 'frankentoy' creation.

PLUS WE ALSO NEED!!

Silent Auction Items: Can you donate or facilitate the donation of a “big ticket” item for the Silent Auction? Ideas include artwork, experiences, wine, sports tickets, memorabilia, trips away (beach house, anyone?), fashion, and fitness packages. We’re open to anything! Contact Rachel at rachaelmcconaghie@gmail.com or Kel at kelz_2110@hotmail.com for more details.

Mystery Bags: The kids go wild for these, and Antionette is in need of more donations - Art/craft supplies - All kinds of stationary - hair accessories/ nail polish - oshies/figurines - sticker/stamps - balls/magnets/key rings/gadgets/party bag fillers - cars/marbles - jewellery (bracelets, beads, necklaces, clips) - individually wrapped treats/lollies/chip packets - slime/ small games/toys - collector cards ! Contact Antionette on antaltimate@hotmail.com. There is a special box in the Office for these donations!

FOR THE MAKERS AND BAKERS

Jams and Preserves: Do you make preserves? Do you have a family member who does? Do you have a cupboard full of jams you’ve prepared earlier? Maybe you have access to cheap bulk fruit. Monique is managing the Jam and Preserve stand and needs makers and donations! You can reach her at Moniqueeggenhuizen@gmail.com for more details.

Ready Steady Bake: We would love your help with baked goodies for our cake stall!

Every family can lend a hand by providing baked or similar type goodies like cupcakes, slices, muffins, scones, meringues, pikelets, tarts, or biscuits - whatever takes your fancy! The options are endless, and all contributions will be gratefully received. Erin will be sending packs home soon!

VOLUNTEERING AT THE EVENT

All the stalls are managed and run by volunteers, and we need a lot of them to lighten the load!

We’re asking all families to support the fair by volunteering for at least 2 hours across the day to share the love with the APS community as much as possible! It is great fun, and you’re also directly contributing to the day's success.

We need sausage sizzlers, stall helpers, set-er-up-ers, face-painters, fairy-floss makers, dishwashers, baristas and bar servers.
