Swimming!

We have spent the last 2 weeks completing our swimming and water safety lessons! All students enjoyed the program and were able to learn life saving swimming strategies or built upon the skills that they had already developed, before having some fun and getting to jump into the pool!

Our last swimming lesson saw students play team games and put their learnt skills to the test as well as use the pool for enjoyment.

It was excellent to see all students representing the school so positively and ensuring that they were always follow our school values and using their manners. The feedback from the pool managers was excellent and great to hear.

Everyone had an excellent time and we are still being asked if we can go swimming again!

Writing

To end the year, we have introduced one final writing genre, and that is transactional texts. Our wonderful Preps have been enjoying writing letters to imaginary characters, their friends and school staff. Over the next week, we will continue to write letters, this time to our future grade 1 teacher and write cards for different purposes such as Christmas and Grade 6 graduation, as a present to our buddies.

Here are some great letters that students wrote to a T-Rex after reading the story 'Dear Dinosaur'.

Chromebooks

The Prep A students have begun learning how to log into a chromebook with the wonderful assistance of some 5/6's. This can be really confusing considering our username and passwords are an odd combination of letters, numbers and symbols. however it was great to see everyone persevere! Once we have mastered the skill of logging on, we will begin experimenting with google drive and google docs!

Thank you Mohamed, Ahmed, Ruby, Kimberly, Reid, Youi and Adabelle for your paitence and helping teach the Preps!

Reminders and Information

Library books - the library has now closed for the year therefore students will no longer be borrowing or attending library sessions. It is important that all books are returned to school ASAP to give Ester time to stock take and organise the library ready for 2025.

Kris Kringle - all students who are participating in Kris Kringle (KK)  and returned their permission notes should now have received their special persons name. These gifts are to be labeled:

 'To (students name)

From K.K'

We ask that gifts are brought into the classrooms by Friday 13th December.

Books and Materials - students will slowly be taking home their workbooks and materials from this year. We will aim to space this out so that bags do not become too heavy! Headphones and library bags will be passed onto next years teacher if they are at school.

Assembly - at assembly next week, Prep students will be performing a song to celebrate completing their 'under the sea' discovery topic. Please feel free to attend this.

Bring Your Own Device - as students are now moving into Grade 1 they are able to be apart of the BYOD program and have their own chromebook. The order portal is here: https://pvnps.orderportal.com.au/Welcome?ofid=1709&eid=1160
