In The Art Room

Term 4

Foundation

Just adorable! We made cocoons and chrysalises for our cute little caterpillars. Miles enlightened us with some facts; butterflies make chrysalises, whilst moths make cocoons. Next week, we make our butterflies and moths.

Grade 1

Grade 1s have had fun soaping up a storm, felting fleece to make beautiful gumleaves to adorn their pompom gumnuts. Check out the action!

Grade 2

Lunch is ready! Grade 2s have finished their soft sculpture sandwiches and packed them in donated sandwich boxes. Buttering the bread with mayonaise glue was fun. Layering our sculptured snacks with ingredients carefully cut from felt challenged our scissor skills. They look so real, you would have to look twice before you attempted to eat them!

Grade 3/4

I am so impressed with the way grade 3/4 students have explored colour and texture in their needle felted landscapes. This week we added our foregrounds, which is very tricky when you are using a needle and fluffy fleece to depict flowers, birds and tiny details. Aren't these works stunning?!

Grade 5/6

Our Mini Me soft sculptures are coming to life with fingers and toes, skin and muscle. We are developing our characters, building quite a diverse 'community' of beings. Eli is making a mushroom man, Bridie is making Nicki Minaj, we have a number of Fish Stick figures and superheroes. Next week we begin to make our costumes and accessories.

Our Creative Staff

Last Friday afternoon, the staff at Mullum enjoyed an afternoon of creativity and relaxation hosted by "Friends of Mullum Arts" founders, mums Erin (Ernie Grade 2) and Annie (Charlie R. Grade 1). The artworks produced are next level gorgeous! If you would like to be the proud owner of one of these unique works, be sure to place your bid at the silent auction to be held at our Festival of Hidden Treasures.

I look forward to sharing our Art Room news with you next time.
