Numeracy with Michael Minas

This year, staff have continued working alongside Michael Minas from Love Maths to assist in enhancing the mathematical learning experiences and tasks that we provide to all our students. Recently, the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) have developed a new and revised mathematics curriculum to be implemented across all Victorian government schools by the beginning of next year. Michael has been a great support to all our teams across the school in deepening our understanding within this new curriculum.

This week, Michael worked with our teams in developing a new yearly overview which embeds consistent links and connections across all the 6 sub-strands within the curriculum:

• Number
• Algebra
• Measurement
• Space
• Statistics
• Probability

The work within constructing the overviews will now enable us to create more interactive learning experiences, develop real - world connections now connects and build upon our already comprehensive planning and assessment processes to provide the best opportunity for student growth and teacher practice. 

We are excited to see how these new resources will inspire our students and enhance their learning experience. Our aim is to create a supportive environment where every child can build confidence in their math skills.
