Inquiry

Science   I   Technology   I   Humanities    I    General Capabilities

Our Inquiry question will involve critical and creative thinking in the area of Science when we ask ‘How do the elements of physical science affect and assist us in our daily lives?’. Our curious learners will connect with the physical elements of science (light, sound, push, and pull) within our natural and human-made world. They will communicate new learning and discoveries based on their own investigations and create artefacts to demonstrate their understanding. They will be investigating questions such as:

Light:

  • What different light sources are there?
  • What is the difference between natural and artificial light?
  • How do we sense light?
  • Why was artificial light invented?
  • Why is light important?
  • How does light help us in our daily lives?

Sound:

  • What different sounds are there?
  • How do we sense sound?
  • What produces sound?
  • How can we produce and change sound?
  • Why is sound important?
  • What do we use sound for in our daily lives?

Push and Pull:

  • How do objects move?
  • How can we make objects move?
  • Why is it useful to push and pull objects?
  • How does size and shape affect how objects move?

In addition to rich classroom activities, students will have opportunities to expand and apply their learning by participating in a hands-on push and pull incursion.
