In Year 3/4, students finished off exploring our relationship with plastics by sorting different examples into the various plastic types according to embossed plastic numbers. We discussed which items were easily recycled and how these can be recycled at home, school and in the community. We also discussed why different numbers were harder to recycle e.g., many materials in plastic items.
In 5/6, students completed information advertisements to highlight problems and solutions related to our use of plastics and how we are impacting marine environments around the world. We learnt about Ocean Clean Up, which is a global organisation who are aiming to collect and recycle plastics currently swirling around in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch within 10 years.
Last week, students worked together to create interesting marble mazes using found objects.
