Grade 5/6

Miss Stephan and Mr Ward, supported by Mr Reid

Literacy

In Literacy, we have been using our knowledge of the Writing Traits; Ideas, Organisation, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Conventions and Presentation to write a Narrative focussing on a certain theme. The students will be bringing home their plans based on a picture prompt to show their families in preparation for our writing day which will be on Wednesday the 13th. We can’t wait to read their pieces and see their fantastic ideas they come up with.

Maths

We have been flying through the ‘Big Ideas’ this year. Last week we finished Big idea 14 ‘Two and three dimensional objects with or without curved surfaces can be described, classified and analysed by their attributes’ as well as Big Idea 15 ‘Objects in space can be oriented in an infinite number of ways, and an object’s location in space can be described quantitatively.’ This week we are moving on to the Big Ideas 16 and 17 ‘Objects in space can be transformed in an infinite number of ways, and those transformation can be escribed and analysed mathematically.’

5/6 Challenge

Throughout the year, the Grade 5/6 classes have been participating in different types of challenges. This term, we have been playing a mixture of inside and outside games. So far, we have played; hockey, uno, basketball, marbles and dodgeball. It has been great to see all of the team work and support both classes have been showing throughout the weeks, well done to 5/6A who have managed to win every game so far.

Reminders
