The last few weeks we have been working with this terms Injury Unit "Geography" and Big Question "What makes Castlemaine and Australia special?".
We firstly looked and discussed the poem "My Country" by Dorothea Mackellar. We discovered she wrote this poem in her early 20's in 1904, when she had to stay in England for a while. She became so homesick for Australia that she wrote all about the things she missed.
We discussed her poem, the words she used to create the imagery, feelings that were conveyed and if we think feel and see the same. A discussion was held about what are the things we think is special about Australia and made our own drawings with that in mind with parts of Dorothea's poem.
This work will be displayed this week in the hallway.
Kind Regards,
Diana
