Grade 3

Term 4 is off to a great start, with students quickly settling back into their learning. There's a lot of excitement ahead of us this term! In the coming days, students will begin rehearsing their dances for the upcoming School Production. We’re sure that the students will enjoy their final term in Grade 3, before transitioning to Grade 4.

English

In English, we have been learning about different genres of poetry. The students have enjoyed writing five senses, alliteration and cinquain poems, to name a few. They have also participated in a fun poetry battle, voting for their favourite pieces. As they approach Grade 4, please continue reading with your child every night and ensure they are practising their spelling words. Listening to your child read is important, as it gives you the chance to ask questions before, during, and after reading, helping to deepen their understanding.

Mathematics

In Mathematics, we've kicked off an exciting Minion-themed unit, exploring the properties of two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes, as well as area and money. The students have enjoyed designing their own Minion characters and working together to create a Minion village using 3D shapes. As we move through the term, students will also continue revising the four operations and fractions.

Integrated

This term’s concept is all about Connections in our Integrated learning. Students will explore Australia and its neighbouring countries, delving into topics such as climate, environment, natural landmarks and popular activities. They will have the opportunity to participate in engaging sessions, where they will learn and create something related to each state and territory as we embark on a virtual journey around Australia.

We are looking forward to a busy and exciting last term with the students!

Warm regards,
