John XXIII Rowing Club

Dear Rowing Families

We hope everyone is settling back into the routine as we move into the final term. With just a week to go, we're excited to remind you that the Year 7 Learn to Row program begins next Monday 21 October, and will run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until its final session on Thursday 21 November. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to be introduced to rowing and learn the basics of the sport in a team environment.

Students should change into their sports uniform and be ready to catch the bus from the John XXIII College bus shelter at 3:30pm. At the College boatshed (Canning Bridge), our experienced coaches will guide them through safe boat handling and essential rowing techniques.

The bus will depart the boatshed at 5:20pm, returning students to the John XXIII College bus shelter by 6:00pm. If you would prefer to pick up your child directly from the boatshed, please send me an email to confirm these arrangements.

In case of inclement weather, sessions may be cancelled, and we will promptly notify parents and guardians to ensure everyone's safety.

Our coaching team and I are excited to welcome the next generation of College rowers and look forward to seeing them take to the water next week!

Rowing training tops on sale

We have a limited number of blue training tops for sale from the Sport Office. Prices are as follows:

  • Short-sleeved training tops: $15 each
  • Long-sleeved training tops: $20 each

Rowers can wear their training tops to land training as an alternative to their school sports polo, so they are a great option to cut down on the weekly washing! They are also great under the zootsuits on the colder mornings. All proceeds from the sales of the tops will go directly to the club as a fundraiser, so even more reason to purchase one…or two.

Stack Team App

Please download the ‘Stack Team App’ on your phone as this is the central place for training schedules, training updates, and access to the rowing handbook to name a few. It is important that all rowers and parents have access.

To get this app go to the App Store or Google Play and download Stack Team App onto your mobile device, then follow these simple steps:

  1.  Sign-up to Stack Team App. You’ll be sent an email to confirm your registration.
  2.  Log-in and search for JTCRC, then request to become a member.

Asthma and Allergies

Can all rowers with asthma or allergies please remember to bring their asthma puffers, EpiPens, or required medication to all sessions.
