What's happening in Boarding?

Kambala Boarders Explore Watsons Bay Spring Markets

Over the weekend, the Kambala Boarders enjoyed a delightful outing to the Watsons Bay Spring Markets. With clear skies and a refreshing sea breeze, the visit provided the perfect opportunity for the girls to relax, explore, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere of the markets.

The markets offered an eclectic mix of stalls, showcasing everything from handmade crafts and jewellery to seasonal produce and artisan foods. The girls enjoyed browsing the variety of unique items, tasting fresh treats, and supporting local vendors.

This outing was not only a chance to indulge in some spring shopping but also an opportunity to bond as a boarding community. After a leisurely stroll through the markets, the girls enjoyed some downtime by the waterfront, appreciating the stunning views of Sydney Harbour. It was a rejuvenating experience for everyone involved—a reminder of the importance of finding time to unwind amid busy schedules.

We look forward to many more enjoyable weekend Rec adventures like this, as the Kambala Boarders continue to explore Sydney, connect with their Boarding sisters, and grow together as a community.

Staff Update/ Staff Profile

Taleyah Hippi-Laurie has returned to Kambala this term as a Boarding Supervisor, she is a Kambala Old Girl and has previously worked in the Boarding House so will be familiar to many of the girls.

We also have an additional Gap Student Imogen Perris who joins us from the United Kingdom.

Saturday Sport

Touch football trials commenced in the last week of Term 3 with a bright and early start on Wednesday morning. The girls seemed very excited to begin touch season in the warmer weather with some girls even doing up to 5 separate trials!

Congratulations to Polly (Yr 11) whose NSWCIS team made it into the semi-finals at the National Youth Touch Championships in Coffs Harbour. Touch Australia described Polly as one of the team’s standout players and we’re very proud of her efforts.

Over the weekend the Touch Season commenced and many of our Boarder's had their first games. Taylor’s team (Yr 10) had a very competitive game and unfortunately lost their touch game by one point!

Events

As part of the leaving celebrations for our Year 12 Boarders the parents, staff and students had a celebration dinner together in the Harbour View Room. It was an opportunity to share their Boarding journey with their families and celebrate the friendships forged over their time at Kambala.

Kailani and Audrey made a touching speech and thanked the key people who have made Boarding at Kambala an opportunity for them to grow as people.

The Boarding community are very proud of our 2024 Year 12 Cohort and know they will leave Kambala with special memories of having Kambala as a school and a home.

This term, the Year 12 students dived straight into their HSC exams, kicking off with English. The girls have been working tirelessly over the past year and we are sure their efforts will pay off.

Year 10's enjoyed their amazing social on Friday 18 October. The girls dressed up for the occasion and had a fun-filled, memorable night that included dancing and a lot of lovely photos to look back on.

On the same night the junior Boarders attended the Ascham Boarders Social with 130 boarders from other schools. The girls were able to connect with friends from other schools, dance, and chat over snacks and refreshments. It was a highly enjoyable evening and moving forward we are working with the local schools to include more social events into the program.

Fernbank Fun

Year 12’s final week meant lots of fun dressing up around Fernbank!

The girls all got to decorate their summer dresses one final time alongside lots of silly costumes for the girls before they finally dress to impress for their final graduation and Valedictory evening.

Whilst the Y12’s were having their final night of celebrations around the school, Year 7-11 enjoyed a relaxing pizza night at Fernbank. A vigorous game of Uno ensued with some peaceful music and chatting also taking place. All the girls were pleased with the abundance of pizza and some even managed to squeeze in some chocolate dipped strawberries as dessert!

A special welcome to Jenny in Year 10 who has joined Fernbank B oarding from Vietnam. The Fernbank girls are very excited to see a new friendly face especially Jackie and Megan who are Jenny’s grade level buddies.
